The community wanted to shake the generalisation of the ‘State House look’ with individualised properties built for the sun, with space for families.
HNZC, a major tenant in Aranui, have systematically been replacing troublesome
2-storey multi-dwelling houses with new stand-alone homes.
This project required 9 new homes each to have their own address, driveway and front door visible from the street.
The existing buildings suff ered from perceived overcrowding and unclaimed dangerous back sections. While fitting within a strict construction budget our
replacement designs provided northern living, sheltered verandahs and internally accessed lockable garages. Colour was used to diff erentiate the familiar forms of gabled roofs.
